Tuning Guide¶
Stable food cycle¶
- Start food seeking around
35–45hunger. - Stop eating around
10–15hunger. - Use
Plant Eating Speedaround1.6–2. - Ensure feeding points are inside the swim volume; the package clamps them automatically.
Balanced predator and prey¶
Predator pursuit applies a speed multiplier, so compare effective speeds rather than cruise values alone.
A useful starting point:
| Role | Cruise speed |
|---|---|
| Herbivore | 1.0–1.3 |
| Omnivore | 0.95–1.25 |
| Carnivore | 0.9–1.2 |
Use a danger radius around 8–10, flee distance around 7–9, and require more than one bite when predators dominate the simulation.
Population balance¶
Remember that profile population limit is applied separately to each runtime species name. Two carnivore species using a limit of four may produce eight total carnivores. Use the global cap and starting populations together.
Procedural swim¶
Tail angle 5–10 produces restrained motion. Increase frequency for small fish and reduce it for large fish. Excessive turn speed can make avoidance and fleeing appear twitchy.
