Troubleshooting
The Object Launches Upward
Lower these values:
Buoyancy StrengthMax Point ForcePoint Radius
Also check that float points are not far below the hull.
The Object Does Not Float
Check:
Surfaceis assigned onWaveBuoyancy.- The object has a non-kinematic
Rigidbody. Float Pointsis not empty.- Float points are near or below the waterline.
Motion Feels Sharp
Try:
- Increase
Height Smoothingfor vertical motion. - Increase
Normal Smoothingfor roll and pitch. - Increase
Water Angular Dragif rotation is too fast.
The Ship Does Not Tilt Enough
Try:
- Increase
Surface Normal Influence. - Lower
Water Angular Drag. - Lower
Upright Stability.
The Setup Menu Creates Only Water
This is expected. Create Basic Demo Setup creates the water surface, profile, and material only.
Add boats and buoys manually, then attach WaveBuoyancy and WaveFloatPoint components.
Missing Reference Errors in the Inspector
If Unity reports a destroyed object while drawing the Inspector:
- Click another object in the Hierarchy.
- Clear the Console.
- Make sure the Inspector is not locked.
- Reopen the scene if the old selection remains cached.
