Runtime UI, Camera & Saves

Construction menu

The generated uGUI menu reads directly from the selected ConstructionCatalog. It creates category tabs and build buttons at runtime.

The supplied interface includes:

  • Structural, Furniture, and Devices categories;
  • selected-piece feedback;
  • rotation and story controls;
  • build/inspect mode toggle;
  • demolition mode;
  • hovered-room atmosphere and power information;
  • station-wide power and oxygen totals;
  • save-slot controls.

Generate or repair it with:

Tools > Pixit Games > Space Station Survival > Create Construction UI Prefab

The prefab is saved under Demo/PrefabTemplates/UI/ConstructionMenu.prefab.

Inspect mode

Turn Build Mode off to enter Inspect Mode.

Clicking an enclosed floor opens room information:

  • room name and type;
  • room level;
  • oxygen, pressure, and temperature;
  • power production, consumption, and availability;
  • operational state;
  • object and worker information;
  • connected and active vent counts;
  • worker assignment action when a job is available.

Clicking a worker switches the same panel to personnel information, including health, personal oxygen, fatigue, needs, room, home, job, and current state.

Camera controller

ConstructionCameraController is an optional RTS-style camera. It provides input-independent methods:

cameraController.Pan(input, deltaTime);
cameraController.Rotate(input, deltaTime);
cameraController.Zoom(amount);
cameraController.SetFocus(worldPosition);
cameraController.FrameStation();

The included legacy adapter uses WASD, Q/E, mouse wheel, middle-mouse orbit, and F to frame the station.

Save slots

ConstructionSaveSystem supplies five numbered slots by default. Saves are versioned JSON files below:

Application.persistentDataPath/SpaceStationSurvival/Saves

Version 1 stores:

  • stable construction definition ID;
  • grid coordinate;
  • quarter-turn direction.

Loading validates all IDs before clearing the current build. It restores pieces in dependency order:

  1. cells;
  2. boundaries;
  3. wall attachments;
  4. placeables.

Rooms, atmosphere links, resource totals, and crew are regenerated after construction loads.

Construction-only save

Current saves do not persist live oxygen quantities, pressure, worker fatigue, job assignments, durability, or other simulation state. Those values are intentionally regenerated in this version.
