Getting Started

Requirements

  • Unity 6
  • uGUI for the supplied runtime construction menu
  • Legacy Input Manager only if you want to use the demo keyboard and mouse adapters unchanged

The runtime assemblies do not require an external pathfinding, inventory, or dependency-injection package.

  1. Import the package and wait for script compilation to finish.
  2. Choose Tools > Pixit Games > Space Station Survival > Create Clean Visual Placement Demo.
  3. Confirm saving the current scene if Unity asks.
  4. Open Demo/Scenes/VisualPlacementDemo.unity if it is not already open.
  5. Enter Play Mode.

The command prepares the construction catalog, prefab wrappers, categorized UI, station simulation, atmosphere network, resource grid, camera controls, save slots, room inspector, and worker manager.

Generated scene

The clean demo command recreates VisualPlacementDemo.unity. Save custom scene work elsewhere before running it again.

First playable station

Build this sequence:

  1. Place a group of floor cells.
  2. Seal the perimeter with walls, a door, or an airlock.
  3. Add a Bed and Locker to classify the room as Crew Quarters.
  4. Build a second enclosed room.
  5. Add an Oxygen Generator to classify it as Life Support.
  6. Add a Solar Generator outside the rooms.
  7. Attach a Ventilator to the shared wall between the two rooms.
  8. Turn Build Mode off, select the Life Support room, and choose Assign Worker.

The crew member walks to the generator, enables its staffed production, consumes oxygen, becomes tired, returns to bed, and resumes work after resting.

Other included demos

The package also contains earlier focused demonstrations:

  • Create Phase 1 Demo — basic room, resources, crew, device, and debug UI.
  • Create 1x1 Grid Room Demo — one logical room assembled from independent cells.
  • Create Placement Demo — core placement and validation without the complete visual UI workflow.

For normal evaluation and integration, begin with the clean visual placement demo.

  1. Duplicate the visual demo scene.
  2. Dress the supplied wrapper prefabs with your own models.
  3. Replace or extend the construction catalog.
  4. Create project-specific tags and room types.
  5. Replace the optional legacy input adapters with your Input System, gamepad, or multiplayer command layer.
  6. Style or replace the supplied uGUI without modifying simulation code.
