Editing vs Generating

Generate a New Planet

  1. Open Pixit → Orbital Builder → Planet Builder.
  2. Set parameters (or press Randomize Values).
  3. Click Generate Planet to create a new Planet_[Name] root.

Edit an Existing Planet (if supported by your build)

  1. Select a Planet_* root in the Hierarchy.
  2. Enable Apply To Selected Root (or press the Apply button if present).
  3. Update your parameters and apply — the selected planet updates in-place.

Material Overrides

  • All child layers (_Geo, _Ocean, _Atmosphere, _Ring) are standard MeshRenderers; assign your own materials/shaders.
  • Re-generating may reassign defaults. Apply custom materials after generation or save as a prefab.
  • Recommended render queues:
  • Ocean ~2990
  • Atmosphere ~3000 (Transparent, ZWrite Off)
  • Ring ~3010 (usually double-sided)

Prefab Workflow

  • Click Create Prefab to save your planet.
  • To share rings, select the planet and Create Ring Prefab to save just the _Ring object.
